Overview

Newly created Group Accountant role with a highly regarded PLC based close to Warrington. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, driven accountant to join an acquisitive business within a flexible, relaxed environment. Key Responsibilities: - Responsibility for the consolidation and preparation of the Monthly Group Board Papers, incorporating; P&L, balance sheet and cash flow positions, and other key Group KPIs. To include management of this process ensuring required timescales and deadlines are adhered to and communicated internally. - Prepare the consolidation of and review the Group short term cash flow. - Control the review and submission of statutory filings and ensure the relevant payments are made to HMRC. - Perform an Internal Audit function on complex balance sheet areas as and when required, ensuring procedures and approaches are aligned across the Group & providing expertise and advice as required. - Review divisional compliance with accounting standards and Group accounting policies. - Where necessary, producing, implementing and updating Financial control policies and procedures. - Responsibility for meeting Corporate Reporting requirements such as through monitoring Senior Accounting Officer compliance and the calculation and submission of gender pay gap and payment practices information. - Involvement in a variety of adhoc projects. - Day to day responsibility for the Group’s car fleet. - Use skills, knowledge and experience to add value within the Finance department and across the business, by suggesting improvements to processes and procedures, and where appropriate implementing those suggestions. Skills & Experience Required: - Candidates will be ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified. - You will need to be a confident and assertive communicator with the ability to build rapport and work with people at all levels. You must have an ‘eye-for-detail’, the ability to challenge and be determined to go the extra mile to achieve results. - The position requires someone who is highly computer literate, with excellent Excel skills. Effective organisational ability and time management skills are crucial, along with practical experience working to extremely tight deadlines. - Sound understanding of up to date accounting standards including IFRS, with a general knowledge of tax. - Teamwork is essential in this role, as you need to ensure colleagues across a number of sites hit required deadlines, therefore you must be team orientated and able to maintain positive and supportive relationships with your colleagues at all times.
