Overview

Job summary We are creating our next generation technology platform and applications through re-usable cloud services. We are building cloud native applications using various AWS technologies within a micro-services based architecture and an API first approach. The Software Engineer for UI/UX has responsibility for developing and delivering client-side code for the Group software suite, contributing to building new features and launching new platforms. You will be joining a key project developing the product roadmap that will shape the future of IRIS products and will gain exposure to many new and exciting technologies along the way. Main responsibilities Deliver high quality, robust and testable code that follows established patterns and meets standards Work with the Scrum Master and other stakeholders across the IRIS Group to agree on technical direction Accountable for efficiency-focused design that serves to ensure that all code is highly reusable and modular Identify and communicate technical requirements Create and maintain solution documentation Support operational teams during testing and rollout of features Participate in Sprint Planning and other Scrum Events Collaborate with other team members and sharing the benefit of your knowledge Continually learn and extend skillset to support feature development, advising on new approaches or solutions Person specification Qualifications BSC or equivalent in a software engineering discipline Experience Must Have: Extensive JavaScript experience including vanilla JS and Angular Strong HTML and CSS including SASS/LESS Experience with front-end test automation (Jasmine, Selenium etc) Experience with front-end build tools (NPM, Grunt, Gulp) Experience with code repositories (Git, SVN) Good understanding of web application development processes and patterns including MVC/MVVM Track record of successful software delivery Experience working in an Agile/DevOps software development environment Good communication skills with the ability to present technical details to a non-technical audience Experience working with REST APIs and web services Experience of cloud SaaS platforms Desirable: Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience NodeJS Experience using Docker and Kubernetes Experience of monitoring and logging techniques Experience using CI/CD tool chains Understanding of security considerations Understanding of Micro service architectures
