Overview

This minerals-processing company has been based in Cheshire for over 100 years, and are part of a group of companies based in the US with annual sales of £1.5 billion. They manufacture products for a wide range of business customers. They are looking for help with a project aimed at improving their planned maintenance programme, and developing a plan for replacement of obsolete equipment. This will give you significant experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and will look great on your CV. The start date would be between April and July, depending on when you are available- so while a Mechanical Engineering graduate who is available now is preferred, undergraduates looking for a summer internship will also be considered. The placement will last between 8-12 weeks. You will be assisting in the review and upgrade of planned maintenance programme for mineral processing equipment. Some of the key areas include: • Reviewing and updating equipment asset status on the maintenance management system; • Identifying critical equipment, key asset parts; and identifying potential areas of risk related to equipment availability and reliability; • Identifying potentially obsolete equipment and associated parts, and defining a plan to replace or upgrade this in conjunction with key suppliers; • Reviewing the existing planned maintenance schedule and identifying areas for improvement in terms of frequencies and standard work. The offices are in a small town in between Northwich and Crewe, potentially also commutable from Macclesfield and Chester.
