Permanent post Suitable for NQTs Permanent to commence September 2020 Corpus Christi Catholic College is a highly regarded, oversubscribed and successful 11-16 secondary school with a caring ethos and high standards, part of the Diocese of Leeds. The governing body are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of Science to join our supportive, successful department from September 2020. This an exciting time to join our team as we build on our successful Ofsted inspection in 2019 and work to develop our new faculty system introduced in September 2019 which is further enhancing our collaborative working across the curriculum. We are keen to hear from candidates of all faiths, or none, who will support our distinct ethos and vision. The aim of the Faculty Science department is to develop and maintain students' curiosity, interest and enjoyment of science by providing inspiring lessons and stimulating learning. The faculty consists of six full-time teaching staff, supported by a Higher- Level Teaching Assistant and two technicians. A number of teaching staff in the department joined the college after training with our SCITT partners at Leeds Trinity. The successful candidate will… Have the ability to engage and enthuse students through high quality learning experiences Have high expectations of student's achievement and behaviour Have the ability to inspire and motivate students Be enthusiastic, resourceful and committed to securing student progress Be willing to fully support and promote the Catholic ethos of the college Opportunities for NQTs: The college currently employs a number of newly, and recently, qualified teachers who have benefitted from our strong developmental culture, benefitting from a range of internal and external support and CPD opportunities NQT's are assigned a subject specific mentor, with a weekly mentoring meeting and CPD input delivered by colleagues within the college. As part of the Leeds Catholic School's Partnership NQT's meet with their peers from three other local secondary schools twice a term, spending half a day with one of our partner schools for observation and CPD opportunities. As part of our commitment to CPD we have links with the Leeds Learning Partnership, with staff given the opportunities to network with peers and colleagues from schools across the city We are proud of our college community and welcome visits from interested candidates.
