We are currently looking to recruit 2 experienced Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists to work within a secure service in Somerset. As a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist you will have medical responsibility for patients across the service and work as part of a team to include; Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Nursing, Social Workers, Physical Health Team and a visiting GP every week. Key Responsibilities include; Ensuring that each patient has a full physical health screen upon admission including physical examination, ECG and bloods. Responsible for patient treatment plans, whilst liaising with the multi-disciplinary team. Screening and assessing referrals. Reviewing mental state examination of service users, appropriate investigation / diagnosis and treatment, participation in ward rounds. Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and embed clinical governance within the hospital. Responsible for the supervision of reports for Mental Health Act Tribunals and managers' hearings and attend hearings whenever possible. Completing discharge letters and reports as required. Contributing to the service development by participating in Clinical Governance activities by conducting audits, research and teaching. Successful Candidate: A recognised medical degree Full GMC registration Section 12 Approval Approved Clinician status At least 3 years' experience in Psychiatry Forensic experience Excellent Communication Skills Team Player Salary for this role is circa £140,000 plus a relocation package is available.
