Overview

East Midlands Children and Young Peoples Sexual Assault Service (EMCYPSAS) Crisis Worker – Fixed term for 12 months (with possible extension) Employed by Nott’s SVS Services, working in partnership with Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, this is an exciting opportunity to provide crisis worker support to children, young people and their families who are accessing services at the Nottinghamshire Hub of the EMCYPSAS. Salary £20,344 pro-rata (pay scale 9) for hours worked, with an additional £35.00 per on-call shift covered, with yearly cost of living increase (if applicable) Benefits Company Pension Scheme Location Based at EMCYPSAS, Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust Hours of Work 30 hours per week. Minimum of 4 shifts per week, including some evening and weekend hours. The role will cover a variety of shifts which will be agreed in advance to cover vacant shifts on the rota. The shifts will range from Monday to Sunday shifts with shift times including 6am-2pm and 2pm -10pm Job Purpose The experienced Children and Young Person’s Crisis Worker will provide sensitive, client-centred, non–judgmental support to survivors, aged 17 and under, of sexual violence. This will include assisting forensic examiners and providing advocacy support for clients during forensic medical examinations. Responsibilities To work as part of the initial response team of clinicians, forensic physicians, police officers and EMCYPSAS management team to deliver a high standard of service for clients referred to EMCYPSAS by the Police or who self-refer. To provide support to the clinician performing the forensic examination and collection of samples, assisting in the examination including use of the colposcope and supporting any needs of the client within the examination. To provide the initial support to the client and implement the appropriate processes to ensure that the clients holistic needs are met, including referrals to GUM, devising safety and support plans and following safeguarding policies as appropriate. To be responsible for thorough cleaning of the forensic suites prior to and following a forensic medical examination. To provide cover for EMCYPSAS helpline and Email contacts, answering calls and responding to Emails, acting as a first point of contact, providing specialist information and support on topics relating to sexual violence to clients, families and carers and professionals who call the helpline or send emails and responding to the needs of clients who self-refer. Extra experience, qualifications or skills Evidence of extensive professional experience (minimum of 1 years) of working with children and young people in a supporting capacity In-depth knowledge of issues experienced by children and young people and in particular in relation to sexual violence A thorough understanding of safeguarding issues, policies and procedures Experience of working in a multi-agency setting and partnerships working with a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies Further information or requirements Applicants who successfully pass the initial set questions will be sent an application pack.
