Engineering Team Leader (Rail Vehicle Heavy Maintenance) – 12 month fixed term contract Take the lead and motivate a team of highly skilled Fitters and Electricians, delivering heavy maintenance projects at the Arriva TrainCare depot in Crewe. A fantastic 12 month fixed term contract opportunity with a salary of £36,158 per annum and great additional benefits including 26 days annual leave (including bank holidays), pension, life and healthcare cover, Arriva Travel Pass, Cycle to Work scheme and Arriva Village retailer discount scheme. You’ll work an average of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm. What will this role of Engineering Team Leader (Rail Vehicle Heavy Maintenance) entail? As Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for efficiently carrying out the overhaul of rail vehicles to laid down standards and procedures. Tasks will include fitting floors, panelling, seating, tables, windows and doors in the interior of rolling stock, as well as: Implementing and maintaining safety systems, production efficiency and quality output Liaising with the Production Engineer to ensure work programmes are implemented and technical problems are resolved Implementing customer requirements and assisting with continuous improvement innovations Ensuring the safe movement of rail vehicles, and the compliance of teams working to VMI’s, VOI’s and Arriva TrainCare work instructions Assisting in developing competence assessments for team members Mentoring and coaching team members to ensure job requirements are fulfilled Ensuring work locations are fit for purpose and compliant with standards What will I need to be considered for this Engineering Team Leader (Rail Vehicle Heavy Maintenance) role? Previous experience managing depot operations, with a full understanding of rail vehicle (preferred), aircraft or plant heavy maintenance activities Qualified to a minimum of City and Guilds, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (or equivalent) ideally Rail Traction and Rolling Stock Experience of leading a team and strong communication skills Good understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering and production efficiency techniques Driver operator / shunter assessment in a relevant class of vehicle (desirable) Who will I be working with?
