Overview
White Label are proud to be working with a leading manufacturer of Commercial/Off Highway Vehicles in the Middlesbrough area who are looking to recruit a Design Engineer. My client have significant growth and development plans for the next few years and as a result are looking for someone who is willing to help drive the business forward, bring innovative ideas to the table and help the company cement itself as a leader in its field. The day to day Structural design of the products, mainly steel fabrications using profiled and welded section. This would include updating of current designs and also working on completely new products. Design of the hydraulic power circuits, which are mostly electrically driven, with a brief to improve their reliability and incorporate improved features. This will include cost engineering and also process design for manufacturer. Electrical circuit design, including electronic control systems linked to remote monitoring systems. Working on CE Machinery Directive compliance, and also WVTA approval for commercial vehicles and trailers. Continuous Improvement, working with Operations to maximise efficiency and quality. This is a major area for us and will include incorporating new technology on the shop-floor and designing products to be built with that technology. Cost Engineering, working with suppliers to decrease manufactured costs through revised designs. Being a key player in our New Product Introduction team. Requirements Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Solidworks experience ideally but can consider other 3D CAD packages too. Experience designing commercial vehicles or heavy fabrications would be an advantage. 5 years or more mechanical design experience. A keen willingness to learn and want to push the boundaries. My client is offering a salary of £40,000-£45,000 Working hours are Monday to Friday 7am - 4pm with 30 minutes for lunch. 28 days holiday including bank holidays.
