Lead Software Engineer (.Net) Our client are looking for an experienced Lead .Net Engineer to join the team of highly technical multi-disciplined and enthusiastic engineers and be responsible for defining and developing a complex multi-disciplined solution for an Acoustic Processing System within a high-profile project. You will lead the software architecture & development activities. As one of the leading Defence organisations, our client provide solutions to the various parts of the MOD in the sub surface, surface and air environments as well as to customers both inside and outside of UK government. These projects span a diverse range, from pure research through to product development and deployment. Recent projects include specification, development and delivery of; underwater signature measurement ranges, radar cross section measurement systems, high security classification networks and databases, specialist test systems and electronic warfare test systems. You'll have the opportunity to get involved an exciting and varied in-flight project and follow on roles to help create solutions, across the whole lifecycle from feasibility to acceptance with challenging and unique engineering projects. Role responsibilities and challenges: You will be skilled and experienced in leading a team of developers to deliver excellent software with a strong focus on delivery. To achieve this you will own the software development within multi-disciplinary project teams and: Manage the team's workload to deliver the work efficiently; Ensure that you get the best from each of your team members; Develop and refine architectures and designs to deliver effective solutions; Intelligently apply engineering process (SCM, Change Control, QA…), and coding standards to deliver continuous improvement; Work with the other teams to deliver the whole project in an effective manner; Effectively communicate across the organisation to ensure buy-in for the project. Document architecture and design with UML and SysML (MBA) Education, Qualifications and Training Degree in engineering, a pure science or allied subject is desirable. Chartered professional is desirable. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Experienced at leading teams to deliver against complex requirements and tight timescales; Skilled at implementing robust development processes to deliver quality software in a timely manner; Accomplished developer with experience in a number of languages; Excellent understanding of, and an ability to generate, a broad range of software architectures and designs; Ideally skills and experience in Real-Time systems design and development Personal Qualities and Behavioural Requirements Excellent people manager who can organise and motivate a team; Drive and determination; Open, honest and enthusiastic team member; A proactive and dynamic professional attitude to internal and external customers; Excellent analytical skills and judgment, pragmatic and reasonable; Good problem solving abilities; Ability to work under time and budgetary pressures; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work collaboratively across the organisation.
