Job Summary: Our client requires an assembly engineer to support the day to day operational activities of the busy assembly department. You will provide technical guidance and problem solving skills to the assembly team to help ensure the build quality and standards are achieved in line with the overall programme schedule. You will be the communication line between assembly and engineering ensuring clear and accurate direction is given to the assembly team. Key Responsibilities: To provide technical guidance and problem solving skills to the assembly team Analyse laser measurement data and calculate bearing throws then generate the throw instructions to achieve required alignment tolerance Work with quality engineering and operators on laser measurement techniques, best practice and software Review of gear mesh tapes against acceptance criteria and provide instructions on adjustments if required. Create SOP for key sub-assembly activities Hold regular reviews with fitting team on design/tooling changes to improve quality and reduce lead time Identify and design bespoke assembly tooling Identify and work with specialist sub-contractor for bespoke lifting jigs and frames Own and update build manual as project and assembly sequence evolves. Review of measured data and checks on interference fits, for example during sub-assembly shrinking activities Work closely with representatives from other functions, e.g. manufacturing, design engineering and quality Requirements: Strong understanding of rotating equipment assembly methods Knowledge of common Microsoft office software Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing techniques and business systems (preferably SAP) Ability to open and interrogate 3D assembly models in CAD software (preferred) Understanding of laser measurement techniques (preferred) Can do attitude and the willingness to do a variety of tasks Can be DV cleared If you feel that you meet the criteria to carry out the role, please click 'apply'.
