Overview

Social Media and Engagement Officer We are looking for a highly-motivated, team player to support Hampshire County Council's growing social media and digital profile - working across a range of channels to monitor and respond to a variety of customer interactions, internal and external engagement, as well as monitor media profile and reputation for one of the largest and high performing local authorities in the country. You will be proactive and results-driven, with strong written and verbal communications skills. Creative, highly-organised and with meticulous attention to detail - developing engaging content across a variety of digital and social channels, to successfully engage a variety of audiences will be second nature to you. The role will have specific responsibility to: Support the Corporate Social Media Manager, and Corporate Communications function in identifying, sourcing, curating and posting content for corporate social media channels. Review, triage and respond to customer contact, comments and queries in relation to County Council services and initiatives, across corporate social media channels - i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn - collecting information from Council departments as necessary to inform responses, developing appropriate content, posting and monitoring subsequent emerging reputational issues. Monitor and review daily news media and social media platforms to support and inform the County Council's social media and communications strategies - collating and applying data to report daily to senior management on coverage, profile and any key issues. Keep abreast of social networks and how they are being used to engage and target key audiences Monitor and review internal engagement channels to support and inform change and transformation activity across the County Council. Only individuals who have experience of working across digital and social platforms in a fast-paced, PR or marketing environment need apply. Shortlisting criteria: Qualified to either graduate or equivalent - public relations, marketing or communications professional qualification an advantage. Significant experience of working in a fast-paced communications, public relations or engagement environment - ideally gained within a public sector / local government setting. Excellent organisation skills, with an ability to prioritise work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy, standards and attention to detail. Flexibility to respond quickly to meet urgent demands for communications. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to successfully adapt and communicate complex messages for a variety of audiences and using various channels. Skilled in the use of innovative digital and social media platforms to successfully engage audiences. Proactive and dynamic team player, and able to work independently, while adhering to corporate standards and processes. Experience of working in a politically sensitive environment an advantage.
