We are recruiting for an Engineering Team Leader to join our team based in Hereford. We have gone through some very exciting changes recently at our Hereford site, specifically within our Engineering function. We have seen impressive investment into new technology and automation within our factory and every day we’re innovating m ore than ever to stay ahead of the competition by being more efficient and more productive. From June 1st 2020 the Engineering Team will be moving to a 5 shift continental pattern. This new shift will provide regular opportunities for conducting Engineering Projects, Continuous Improvement activities and Training & Development. Purpose of the role Reporting into the Engineering Manager, you will be part of the local leadership team and take responsibility for the engineers on site. Engineering is critical to our current and future success, so you’ll make sure that our equipment is reliable, limit downtime and maintain high standards to protect the health and safety of our people, and the quality and safety of our food. As a Team Leader you’ll also be expected to lead, support and develop your team. Your key responsibilities will include: Ensuring employee and product safety at all times, by ensuring full training is given and maintaining adherence to Avara Foods safety and hygiene standards. Carrying our risk assessments Controlling the maintenance budget and of all capital jobs. Maintaining good communications with senior production staff, ensuring that all breakdowns or potential safety hazards are attended to immediately, Supervising engineering and maintenance activities, including projects, contractors and complex work activities Ensuring modifications to the plant are carried out safely, compliantly and professionally. Ensuring current legislations, regulations and best practices methods are adhered to at all times. What we are looking for: Engineering craft or technical background, Qualified to HNC level or equivalent. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but full training will be provided. GCSE’s (or similar) and Computer literate in the Microsoft Office suite and other bespoke systems Ideally NVQ level 4 in Supervisory Management or experience in a Team Leader role.
