We are looking to recruit a Principal Engineer, with proven experience, to join our Rail Civils team in Croydon. The role would ideally suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic and diverse organisation – career progression opportunities are widely available and fully encouraged. You will work on a variety of exciting projects and enjoy working in a vibrant team, modern environment and in a high quality location.The successful candidate will be expected to have detailed civil and structural design experience, preferably within the rail sector. Ideally the experience will encompass all stages of the design process form feasibility to construction. Essentially a technical role we would expect the successful candidate to act as the Technical Lead for a team or small number of teams in addition, acting as the Contractor’s Responsible Engineer on projectsDuties: Act as a technical lead for AECOM Civils Rail team in our Croydon office and ensuring that the technical outputs are delivered to the highest standards in accordance with the AECOM quality management system, Inspection and assessment of bridges, retaining walls and other civil structures Undertaking concept design, feasibility studies and preliminary design Design delivery of new structures or strengthening schemes Coordinating and ensuring the production of specification and drawings Producing technical reports Contribute to work winning and preparation of bid documents Act in the role of Contractor’s Responsible Engineer Provide direction and technical advice to junior project team members, taking a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential, developing team spirit and collaborative behaviours Manage personal/team budgets and resources to achieve financial targets. Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment. Provide assistance to senior management in the preparation of technical and financial proposals Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree qualification (or equivalent experience) in Civil Engineering or similar 10 years design experience in a range of civil engineering projects Proven experience of inspection, assessment and design of various structures Experience of Eurocodes, LU, TfL and Network Rail Standards Experience of structural analysis software such as Midas, Superstress and LUSAS Proven experience of delivering projects to time and budget Effective communication skills in a Client facing role Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate would be a Chartered Civil Engineer.
