Residentail Childrens Work, Hounslow Spencer Clarke Group are working alongside Hounslow Council to recruit Residential Childrens Workers on long term temporary contracts. Location - Westbrook Childrens Home, TW5 0LW Pay Rate - £10.00 - £13.00 per hour Contract Length - 6 months On-going Job Title - Residential Support Worker Westbrook Short Breaks and resource Unit provides high quality short breaks and flexible support services through a range of resources, in order to support disabled children and young people to live within their family and community within London Borough of Hounslow. The Service aims to provide a safe nurturing environment for disabled children and young people, based on the premise that their needs and welfare are paramount and should be met on an individual basis. Our over-arching ethos is to provide a service that recognises children’s rights, promotes opportunity, and provides stimulating, creative and varied environments which are conducive to promoting individual development and maximising quality of life and independence. Key Responsibilities: 1. Ability to write clear and concise reports and communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and other professionals. 2. Ability to utilise a range of techniques to communicate with children and young people given the level of their disabilities. 3. Ability to undertake key working responsibilities and have knowledge in devising, implementing & reviewing care plans / training programmes, completing risk assessments with particular regard to young people's skills and abilities with a focus to maximise life opportunities. 4. Knowledge in understanding the care and developmental needs of children and young people with learning or physical disabilities. 5. The ability to actively promote individuals rights, obtain and document views with the sole aim towards a child-centred and holistic approach to their care. 6. Potential to develop skills with a focus to develop and improve on service delivery and adapt to the changing needs of service users. 7. Ability to work in a flexible manner to meet need and identify gaps in service provision for children and young people with a learning or physical disability. 8. Ability to work positively with colleagues in the team and across the organisation to ensure consistent good practice 9. At all times respects confidentiality and the dignity of others. QUALIFICATIONS OR MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE BEFORE APPLYING Experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting, childcare setting, and teaching or youth work capacity. NVQ Level 3 in Diploma in Residential Childcare ( As of April 2012 Workforce Diploma Level 3) or equivalent is essential for this post, therefore, you will be required to hold this qualification on appointment or be committed to working towards achieving this qualification within 12 months of commencement in post.
