Overview

Automation Engineer required for a global company in Edinburgh City Centre. This really is an exciting time to join; there's a lot of investment into the technical team to help develop their already market-leading range of products as they push ahead with their ambitious roadmap. The company are looking for a skilled Automation Engineer to take control of one of their key products and help move away from a mostly manual set-up. As such you will be responsible for developing automated tests and frameworks in order to create a more efficient testing process. You will have a relatively blank canvass meaning, you'll be able to make key decisions on how to test, what to automate and the best processes to move forward. It's a great chance to champion best testing practices, gain exposure to modern tools and a rare opportunity you might not get in similar large companies/large testing teams. With the front end migrating to Angular, part of your role further down the line will be to adapt to this, which might mean a change in tools and tech (and a chance to upskill) - something you'll be able to research and decide upon. Personality-wise, you'll need to be someone who can hit the ground running. It's a fairly autonomous role, so you'll be someone who is confident in the testing decisions you are making, and confident in managing the testing process from the start. You'll have most of the following skills/experience: Experience creating automation test frameworks and scripts from scratch Experience working as a sole Tester Both web-based and desktop application testing Experience with SQL, SQL Server and database testing Continuous integration Agile environment API testing, non-functional testing Tools/tech such as - Java, C# (preferable), JavaScript, Selenium, Gherkin, SpecFlow Although an autonomous role, there are many Testers throughout the company working across different projects, which is something that you will also be able to get involved in further down the line. You'll work in their bright, modern and spacious office along with a technical team of around 20. Based in the West End, public transport links are easily accessible - train, tram and bus. The salary of on offer is up to around £45,000, and it comes with some pretty generous benefits which includes an 8% pension contribution, 5% discretionary bonus, life assurance and health insurance amongst other perks.
