Upholstery Sewing Machinists Starting Salary: £20,000 to £24,000 Permanent Position 37 hour week (Mon to Thurs 8.00 - 17.00 and Fri 8.00 - 12.00) Benefits include: Benefits: market leading pension, annual bonus, overtime at 1.5x p/h, on-site parking Syntech recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of an aerospace manufacturing giant based near Gerrards Cross (SL9). We are eager to add another 2 sewing machinists to an ever-growing department which has already increased in headcount by 5 in the last 18 months. Role In this position you will be responsible for operating sewing machines including overlockers and singer machines to produce a variety of parts and components from high quality aerospace standard fabrics. You will be using pattern cutting, hand sewing, machining, weaving and stitching skills to produce these parts, however if you are starting your career in this field and have limited experience, full training will be provided as long as you have a foundation level knowledge through education. (Fashion or textiles related degree) During production, you will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of your work against the CAD drawings and work instructions. Monitoring any imperfections in the material, threads or mistakes in patterns and referring them to your cell leader. Quality is always a priority over quantity in this industry. Necessary Skills Able to understand and follow technical CAD drawings and specifications Working to verbal instructions on development jobs where drawings do not yet exist Basic Computing skills Good hand to eye coordination - able to cut templates and fabric accurately using a template Understand weft and weave Simple maintenance of sewing machines- changing needles etc If you are seeking a position where you can utilize your education in fashion / textiles or your previous sewing experience within a business that will provide individual learning opportunities and career progression… please apply now.
