This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a technical background and demonstrable experience experience within the piling, foundations or ground engineering sector, either from a contractor or consultancy base. Our client is one of the UK’s leading geotechnical and ground engineering contractors who offer a wide variety of cost-effective value engineered solutions, including piling, foundations, retaining walls and structures, ground improvement, underpinning and ground stabilisation. Due to their commitment to sustainable, ambitious and profitable growth, our client is now seeking to appoint a Project Engineer for their South West operations. Reporting to the Regional Manager the successful candidate will have the day to day responsibility for the initial design and estimating of projects, then upon successful award taking accountability for the safe, timely and profitable delivery of works on site, often with schemes running simultaneously at differing stages of the contract lifecycle. Your role will include managing a site-based workforce, and resolving any technical, operational and commercial issues pertaining to a wide variety of projects undertaken throughout the South West. The Role · Design, estimate and plan contracts in conjunction with other regional Engineers, internal departments, and subcontractors in accordance with company policy · Take responsibility for all assigned contracts, including estimates and designs, and leading projects with the client from receipt of order to final completion · Attend pre-contract and regular site meetings with the client, client’s agents and key sub-contractors (internal and external) to ensure the smooth running of contracts, and ensure accurate records of these meeting are produced · Inspect works in progress to ensure conformance to QA procedures and specification, and schemes are delivered in accordance with the correct design procedures and specifications · Ensure HSEQ plans are prepared for contracts in accordance with company policy · Attend regular meetings with the contracts team to report on projects, and provide proposals and recommendations to enable you to carry out the above duties · Provide any required technical and operational input to design and estimates for varied schemes · Assist in the preparation of proposals during the pre-tender phase as required · Ensure the commercial team is provided with all relevant information, documentation and instructions to support contract variations · Carry out tool box talks as required · Ensure all projects are planned and executed in accordance with company policy, whilst maintaining and improving the professional and progressive image of the company wherever possible The Person You will be degree educated in a relevant discipline (geotechnical, geological or civil engineering) and possessing experience within the piling, foundations or ground engineering sector, either from a contractor or consultancy base To ideally have assisted in the development and delivery of projects with a diplomatic and pragmatic approach, but also with a hands-on attitude to clients, sub-contractors and team management To possess exposure to various technically complex or challenging contracts, and therefore able to demonstrate a tenacious, lead from the front approach To have experience of a variety of projects, including multi disciplined piling, foundations or ground engineering techniques Possess an understanding of all stages of the project contracting process, coupled with the ability to manage and develop yourself both technically and commercially Good levels of experience at pre, in-situ and post contract stages An attractive basic salary plus extensive benefits package is on offer, along with career progression and security of work given the company has a clear and defined commitment to growth.
