Overview

CAD/BIM Technician – Temporary Works Dartford Working with structural engineers and technicians across the business, the draftsman is responsible for the production of 2D and 3D models for major infrastructure and buildings schemes across the UK. About the Role: This role involves producing CAD and BIM models for any required temporary works or construction equipment needed to safely build the projects. Manage own time and ensure all design costs are accurately captured, recorded and recovered correctly. Undertake routine administration of own workload and provide regular status updates to CAD Manager and engineers, as required. Liaise with Structural Engineer to ensure all safety critical information is clearly annotated onto drawings, using the company Safety Management System procedures and conventional SHE symbols. Ensure any Residual Risks inherent within the design are clearly communicated on layout information. Detail any Performance Constraints (e.g. safe working loads, rates of pour etc.) on drawings. Identify any Safety Critical Components on drawings, including recommendations for specific inspections and / or tests required to demonstrate adequacy. Provide graphical Construction Sequence Information for use in site method statements, task briefings and risk assessments. Provide models to be used by field engineers in the preparation of 3D visual method statements. Review Design against any in-house and/or externally published safety or technical alerts. Where required, provide Inspection Checklists for erection, use, operation and dismantling. Generate 3D structural models using Revit Structure software, including cross reference with other design team member’s models to ensure coordination. Generate clear and concise 2D structural information from 3D models, i.e. layout plans, general arrangements and details. Take receipt of incoming technical information from other members of the design team and ensure it is stored and disseminated correctly within the internal project team. Provide support to the engineering team using your skills and knowledge to create solutions to complex engineering problems. Your Experience A high level of fluency with the Autodesk suite of software is an essential requirement of the role, including Revit Structure and AutoCAD.Experience with Bentley software and collaborative working environments will be beneficial.The ability to produce clear and concise 2D layouts from 3D BIM models is an essential skill for 3D modelling tasks.Familiarity with a range of proprietary construction equipment, including falsework, formwork and shoring systems will also be useful.
