Overview
A British multinational security services company are seeking an Ambulance Care Assistant to join their expanding team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. As an Ambulance Care Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Operating interchangeably as either driver or attendant in a single person or 2-person ambulance crew, acting and promoting teamwork to ensure high standards of service delivery. Assisting, moving and handling patients who may be ambulatory or wheelchair-bound, using appropriate equipment where necessary e.g. carrying patients up the stairs using carry chair, moving immobile patients in and out of bed, and manoeuvring patients in wheelchairs into and out of the vehicle and on stretchers as necessary. Ensuring patients are safely seated whilst in transit. Ensuring the use of appropriate equipment and approved manual handling techniques. Maintaining the cleanliness and ensuring the routine daily checks of designated vehicles are carried out prior to deployment. Assisting patients when entering and leaving their homes and taking all reasonable actions to ensure the safety and security of their property. Maintaining records as appropriate. Complying with all instructions, procedures, guidelines, protocols, policies and relevant systems and adhere to all statutory legislation. We are looking for an Ambulance Care Assistant with the following skills experiences: Full driving license. Experience in a driving/care role. A full, enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one, due to the nature of the role. Physically fit with the ability to lift patients due to the nature of the role. A caring attitude towards patients and an outgoing, friendly manner, able to show empathy. Willingness to undergo suitable training including Manual Handling, Risk Assessment, Customer Services, client induction, advanced driving and first aid. You will be provided with full training for the first 2-3 weeks and then mentoring with more experienced ACA’s. If interested, you can go on to develop and learn more skills transporting and looking after patients with more complex medical needs. All this can be provided at a pace to suit you. The company are developing training pathways at different levels up to paramedic standards which, as you progress, increases earnings and provides a truly long term and rewarding position. As an Ambulance Assistant, you will be working 42.5 hours per week including out of hours shifts (evenings, weekends & bank holidays) to convey patients in a busy hospital setting. In return, the Ambulance Care Assistant will receive a salary of £8.49 per hour plus a uniform and enrolment into a company Pension scheme.
