Where we are able to design, develop and launch a growing range of medical products, devices and equipment to the UK & international markets - creating a Centre of Excellence (COE) and leading ?In-house' product research, design, development and production environment. The Materials Scientist will provide excellence in materials science and technical testing for all pipeline projects within the Science and Innovation Team based in Halifax. This role will also be part of a team responsible for critical technical capabilities underpinning innovation and science at the front end of a ?stage-gate' process. What will you do? Ownership and provide single-point excellence for materials (plastics) science within the Science and Innovation Team based in Halifax To undertake testing methods according to standardised testing procedures for materials (including non-woven) Working as part of pipeline project teams, with the potential for this role to lead projects where appropriate Liaise and collaborate with other cross-functional scientists in the Innovation & Product Development Teams What will you need? BSc in material sciences, life sciences or engineering or related scientific discipline Experience in materials science and delivering products to market against clear briefs within a commercially focused FMCG and/or Medical Devices and/or fast-moving, innovative, science-based environment Prior experience of working collaboratively in a project-based environment to deadlines, including potential project leadership Ability to understand scientific programmes e.g. chemistry, microbiology and regulated categories such as medical devices Ability to deliver with accuracy, focus and ownership - and on time and to budget Demonstrates an open and collaborative style, is driven to provide the best working environment, relationships, consideration for their team and other stakeholders Standard benefits will include: a performance-related bonus, 25 days holiday (plus statutory), a contributory pension scheme, private medical insurance, health-cashback plan, discounted memberships.
