Overview
Our client is at the forefront of innovative cancer care with their UK network of cancer centres. They provide the most suitable, state-of-the-art cancer treatment and an exceptional level of care to every patient. The centres deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging and the latest in advanced cancer treatments including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and, in the future, proton beam therapy across all centres. To date, our client has three cancer centres open, two of which currently offer access to proton beam therapy, and a further four new centres planned in the next four years making a total of eight cancer centres around the UK. Their aim is to provide the majority of patients with a state-of-the-art cancer centre within a ninety-minute journey of their front door, wherever they are in the UK. Job Purpose The purpose of this role is to offer a no-fee triage all for patients enquiring with the cancer centre, where the patient is considering treatment at one of our network of private cancer centres. Your main responsibilities will be to ensure that medical records are captured, collated and transferred accurately and in line with the Data Protection Act (DPA). Although you will not be offering medical advice, patients and their family members will have questions about proton beam therapy and radiotherapy, their application and the potential side effects. Your interactions will be empathetic and compassionate, offering practical and emotional support to a variety of patients from all socio-economic backgrounds, who would like more information about the organisation, the treatments offered and they are accessed. The ideal candidate will have a background in radiography, and will have experience in treating. Main duties and responsibilities Triage patient enquiry calls where the patient is considering treatment and would like to understand more about proton therapy for their specific cancer type before they commit to a consultation Ensuring that medical records captured, collated and transferred accurately and in line with DPA Contribute toward a team diary for maintaining regular contact with patients who are considering treatment Assist our marketing team in attending medical events and conferences to offer a clinical presence answer technical questions that may be presented Assist the Enquiries Development and Delivery Lead in ensuring that the training and coaching being delivered to the Enquiries Executives is clinically sound and fit for purpose Liaise with our network of oncologists to understand new treatment methods, modalities and treatments. Place of Work Your normal place of work will be South Wales Headquarters however you may/will be required to travel in the course of your duties to attend meetings and other appointments. Travel and reasonable expenses will be paid in line with the Company’s Expenses Policy. Person Specification - Essential Requirements Qualifications and Registration Good clinical knowledge of types of Cancer, treatments, and known side-effects of treatment Good understanding of Marketing Strategies in this sector to assist and guide the Marketing team with Clinical knowledge Experience and Competencies Good working experience in dealing with patients undergoing cancer treatment Be able to convey empathy with patients and their family when discussing treatment options either face to face, over the phone or communicating via email Excellent record keeping The ability to identify areas of the business needing changes, and to effectively communicate this upwards to management, and help to implement necessary changes Competent user of Microsoft Office Knowledge Good knowledge of what treatment competitor cancer companies are offering and advertising Willing to invest time into understanding how competitors handle patient enquiries Skills Thorough working knowledge of: Radiotherapy Chemotherapy Proton Beam Therapy
