Marine Claims Supervisor - Maternity cover up to 12 months MSC UK prides itself on being the 'Employer of Choice’ within the shipping industry and we have an exciting opportunity for a Marine Claims Supervisor to join our Claims team in Ipswich. Job Description The successful candidate will assist in managing the workload and performance of the marine claims team and identify their training needs. They will handle a range of marine claims from beginning to end and will liaise with Head Office, other agents and departments, customers and insurers to do so. They will answer questions on marine & transit claims cases from external and internal parties. They will manage the department in the absence of the manager and when otherwise required. We believe the successful Trade Support Assistant should have the following skills: Excellent communication skills Ability to prioritise workloads Ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure Previous experience of marine / cargo related claims Previous supervisory/management experience preferred Working knowledge of Microsoft packages essential, including Word and Excel High attention to detail Ability to develop and maximise the skills and productivity of the team Flexible attitude and approach Working towards or already passed Professional Marine Qualifications Knowledge of shipping a positive advantage The key tasks for the Trade Support Assistant are: Supervise the workload and performance of the marine claims team Identify the training needs of the marine claims team and how to deliver this training To handle marine claims, including cargo, container, vessel, personal injury, payment, devan / revan and recoveries from beginning to end To record all claims accurately in various UK and GVA systems and spreadsheets To ensure all files are handled correctly to avoid incorrect action or payment of a claim To liaise with Head Office, other MSC agents, other UK departments, customer and insurers To recover liability amounts from third parties whenever possible To communicate and explain claims issues to other members of staff, the claims team and customers.
