Overview

A leading £2b turnover engineering business in Yorkshire is seeking a Senior Buyer to support the business in its capital, maintenance, and service operation. The Senior Buyer will deliver company-wide steering of strategic and tactical sourcing activities for Mechanical, Pumps, Valves, Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls. Recognized as one of the leading brands in Yorkshire the position will work with existing Category Managers to drive efficiencies with the stakeholders across the portfolio. Responsibilities: Company-wide steering of strategic and tactical sourcing activities for spend categories. Leading of procurement initiatives in the area of the category Mechanical, Pumps, Valves and Electrical and I&C. Further develop and implement category strategy and respective steering mechanisms. Development, negotiation and implementation of contracts which will be used for operational activities. Collaboration with technical leads and further relevant stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of the category projects and strategy. Participate in category-focused analysis projects on innovative strategy and sourcing options (deep dives) and monitor the successful implementation of deep-dive ideas Background: Technical understanding of the respective categories Knowledge and experience in the supplier market Customer and service orientated ability to deliver fast, innovative and creative solutions. High level assertiveness and communication skills , ability to build internal and external coalitions in an international environment for successful business development Experience of liaising with multiple stakeholder in a variety of business areas and stakeholders of differing seniority Support the identification of current and future demands at an early stage and influence the customer approach/strategy to create value for Uniper. Strong financial and commercial awareness Strong influencing and negotiating skills Demonstrate willingness to initiate and drive change within the business Significant analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage conflict to enable the achievement of business goals Ability to identify new ideas and trends and gain buy in from relevant stakeholders Procurement experience from within: Construction, Energy, Utilities, Energy, Power Generation or Plant environment would be ideal.
