TECHNICAL LEAD (SCALA, SPARK, KAFKA) LONDON BETWEEN £95,000 - £115,000 This vacancy is an excellent opportunity to join a highly complex data environment as a technical lead. The company have built a number of bespoke Data Science products that facilitate grater consumer choice. The role involves developing a next generation Scala data platform from scratch. The current tech stack identified for this platform involves Scala software engineering, building Spark data pipelines, and streaming data with Kafka. Everything is hosted within AWS. COMPANY: The Data unit has a core Scala squad - who the undertake to most robust & high scale engineering challenges. Your role will involve adding functionality to the existing platform in addition to building bespoke data products. This role will involve operating as the technical lead of this team. By providing price comparison products that utilise advanced DS - this company have helped consumers find the best deals on the market. ROLE: Technically leading a team of 5 engineers to deliver an ambitious real time streaming platform Leading best coding practices using Scala & architecturally defining a cloud hosted streaming ecosystem Building data pipelines using Scala & Spark Developing a AKKA & Kafka oriented streaming service Liaising with internal stakeholders to gather requirements YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES: Background in functional programming (ideally Scala) Commercial exposure to Kafka hosted within AWS Strong communication skills to interact with the wider team Adherence to best coding practices Technical Leadership experience HOW TO APPLY: Please register your interest by sending you CV to William Wrigley via the apply link on this page
