What’s the role? Shift: Rotating Days and Nights, any 5 from 7 A great opportunity has arisen for Warehouse Shift Managers to manage the day to day operation of our Dagenham Voltaic warehouse, including: adherence to all company and industry compliance standards, all personnel issues relating to depot staff and the maintenance of equipment, whilst ensuring customer expectations are met. What will I be responsible for? Operational Objectives: Site productivity and performance – set widening targets for your managers and teams to produce KPI reports and data Health and safety – accountable for all aspects of health and safety within your team and site. Ensuring that training needs are identified and actioned as appropriate. Clear reporting and monitoring of training systems, escalating issues and preventions to your Operations Manager Accidents and incidents – identify root causes and any reporting trends, advising on possible remedial action, taking a proactive approach on analysis for prevention and deliver improvements Employee compliance - utilise trends to foresee and prevent any potential non-compliance of processes and procedures. Standards are maintained and there is a continual improvement culture within your management team and staff Costs – deliver cost savings within the operations against your P&L set by the general manager. Monitor all your teams’ figures against depot targets following up any actions KPI – analyse information to drive improvements across all KPIs from operational & customers Customer interface – build and maintain excellent customer relationships People Objectives: Act as line manager to Supervisors, team leaders and supporting direct teams Managing absence – liaise with your Manager, HR and your direct reports to ensure all absence from work is managed using company procedures Payroll – ensure that payroll expectations are coded and correct for direct reports. Manage the utilisation of agency labour to reduce business costs Recruitment / succession – ensure that all recruitment is carried out in an ethical manner and in line with the Equality Act and fair selection, liaising with HR Disciplinary / grievance – ensure the disciplinary process and company procedures are followed Training and development – review all aspects of staff training on site, in order to create development plans for both under and high performances. Identify any planning or operational issues and any skill gaps and offer training solutions Communication – ensure processes are in place to manage the flow of communication across your direct reports and site teams in a clear, timely and consistent fashion. Ensure the use and cascading of information from the various communication methods. Ensure that you hold, minute and capture next steps from your team meetings What kind of person are you looking for? Ideally, you will have previous experience in a warehouse managerial role. You will have a proven track record of success in ensuring a financially efficient operation. You will have strong leadership and managerial skills, good awareness and understanding of a variety of warehouse equipment. Although not essential, it would be desirable for the successful applicant to hold an IOSH qualification and a working knowledge of ISO quality management systems. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and experience of managing a team across a large, complex enterprise. The ability to lead by example, act decisively and be able to respond well to changes in demands. You will be well presented and have excellent commercial awareness and business acumen.
