Job Title: Loading Dock Supervisor Salary: £33,195 (inclusive of shift allowance) Location: East London Hours: Monday - Friday with 2 shift patterns: 5am-3pm / 12pm-10pm Suitable applicants will be required to participate in a 1st stage telephone interview, with a 2nd stage Skype/Webex video interview to follow. Your New Job as a Loading Dock Supervisor: To ensure that the loading dock/car parking and goods lifts facilities provide a safe, secure and efficient service for the building, tenants and other legitimate users. Main Responsibilities To be responsible for the “day-to–day” operation of the loading dock areas and adjacent areas and to ensure that all activities are carried out in a well disciplined, efficient and co-operative manner for the benefit of all legitimate users of the loading dock facilities. To ensure that all tenants and other authorised persons using the loading dock facilities comply with the agreed regulations and procedures. To ensure the proper admittance of authorised vehicles and to ensure that the drivers are directed to the appropriate bays/ delivery areas. To record all tenant deliveries in accordance with the agreed procedures and to supervise vehicle unloading and goods clearance from the dock area to ensure rapid turnaround. To control and supervise the operation of the goods lifts in accordance with the agreed procedures and use the associated computer software programme to co-ordinate and schedule this activity. To arrange porterage as appropriate. To check all deliveries (quantity, size, etc.) against the delivery advice note before accepting or signing off. All shortages or damage must be reported and recorded on the delivery advice note. To ensure that the loading dock/car park areas are kept clean and tidy at all times, and that the proper cleaning procedures in the vicinity of the waste compactor/containers are carried out to ensure that hygienic conditions are maintained. To ensure that only authorised and trained personnel use the equipment and machinery located in the car park/loading dock areas. All faults and defects to be reported to the building “Help Desk”. To arrange for the delivery and collection of waste compactors/containers to ensure that an efficient service is maintained for the removal of waste from the building. To maintain good working relations with tenant representatives and suppliers/ contractors using the facilities and to use the e-mail facility as required to confirm bookings and delivery activity. To supervise the arrangements in respect of the collection/delivery of uniforms and overalls for building staff as required. What You’ll Need to Succeed as a Loading Dock Supervisor : Previous experience in supervising/operating a busy loading bay of a large warehouse, logistics or distribution site is essential. The duties will include some form of heavy lifting and strenuous physical activity. Therefore, the incumbent must have the ability to undertake such duties. Possess IT skills and be computer literate. Must be able to drive a forklift truck and be in possession of a current licence. Possess hand signalling skills. The incumbent must have an appreciation of the importance of customer service and how this is applied throughout the business. We are acting as an employment business for this role.
