Overview
We are currently recruiting a number of full time residential support workers to work within a new state of the art property within the heart of Wythenshawe. This service has been specifically designed and built to provide the highest standards of care and well being to 12 adults with learning disabilities. The service itself is split in two and each of the homes houses six service users, two of which who live semi independently within their own flat. As a residential support worker, your role will be to enable the service users to live as independent and fulfilling lives as possible. This will include positive risk taking, for example, something as simple as enabling the service user to make their own cups of tea with the appropriate risk assessments in place can create a strong sense of independence. You will be required to support the service users to reach their own goals and engage in activities that interests them, for example, supporting one of the service users to his local church where he has been a member for the last 30 years. Your responsibilities will also include: Supporting the service users with evening/morning routines and ensuring privacy and dignity are respected at all times. This will include supporting service users with intimate levels of personal care. Supporting service users to develop daily living skills. This can include everything from encouraging them to write a shopping list to preparing a Sunday lunch. Activities should be made fun and engaging. Being able to work flexibly, not only to regards to rota patterns but also the ways in which you support the service users. Promote independence through the prompting of medication where appropriate and administering medication if required The service offers competitive pay rates and a very comprehensive training package. If you have not done so already, you will be supported through your QCF level 2 in Health and Social Care. We require that applicants have at least 6 months experience within the care sector.
