Overview

Role Description To support Expense Team Manager on all aspects of FP&A and management accounting to ensure effective management of QBE European Operations expense base. To ensure on time delivery of all Group and Internal EO expense reporting requirements to an exceptional standard. General Description Preparation and analysis of management reporting on EO Expenses for Board Presentations and monthly reporting to Group, along with other ad-hoc reports. Preparation of a full commentary to support financial analysis of EO expenses, to enable management to understand comparisons to budget and prior reported periods. Support the reporting of overall EO expenses to Divisions (actual, budget, and forecast(s)). Support the budget and forecast process, including liaison with the front office and support function FP&A analysts ensuring models are updated in an appropriate manner. Fully understand the content of the expenses budget (pre and post allocations), and all assumptions underlying, in order to discuss with management and to be able to defend / challenge the expenses within the business and other QBE EO functions. Detailed understanding and effective explanation to stakeholders how expenses are allocated. Use of knowledge to contribute to the updating of drivers in the budget / actual expense process. Understand the end-to-end expense process and use that understanding to improve processes to make them more efficient. Contribute and manage the refinement of processes, procedures, and systems to continuously improve the efficiency of FP&A activities, including development and resource planning of the shared service center. Design, build and use clear reports that analyze current expenditure against budgets and prior periods by cost centers and in total, to enable managers to readily understand the quantum and nature. Establish a working relationship with Finance Operations to ensure they are recording expenses consistently and in accordance with policy. Build a strong working relationship with Business Partners, and Finance senior management, such that credible support and evidence of all expenses can be provided to management. Provide high level of advice, guidance and information on expenses and budget matters to support decisions making and improve understanding on expenses management. Essential Requirements Qualified/Part qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with experience in FP&A Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), influence and challenge senior stakeholders Strong commercial acumen, analytical capability and ability to tell the story behind the numbers Customer-focussed mind-set Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritise team activity
