Frontend Developer, React, JavaScript, Redux, Fintech, Payments, Start-up, Equity Role: Frontend Developer (React) (Potential to move to Lead Frontend Engineer in future) Location: Cardiff (With some potential for remote working) Salary: Up to £40k equity ( significant salary increase in the near future) Acorn Recruitment is excited to be working with a disruptive innovator developing a payments application that could significantly change the payments industry. The partner is taking advantage of new European Central Bank legislation (due in early 2020) that will push a move to an open banking ecosystem changing the way that payments are received - effectively challenging the current duopoly held by Visa and Mastercard. The company will exploit this market to create new opportunities for consumers to access a range of deals and discounts via their all-encompassing digital wallet. The technology will also save merchants and large corporates a huge amount of money when using their payments infrastructure - providing huge benefits on both sides of a transaction. While this role is based with a start-up, the company Board comprises industry heavyweights, including former Directors of global investment banks. The backing of the Board coupled with the size of the opportunity means that the company has already completed their initial round of investment, with further investment due early next year. The technology opportunity is driven by legislative change meaning the company is ahead of the curve with very little in the way of competition, meaning you will be part of something special that could see your equity grow exponentially within a few short years So, what are they looking for? They are looking for a Front-End Engineer, to work side-by-side with their Head of Engineering with freedom to define the front-end engineering approach. You'll design and build their UI and take a lead role with other engineers and designers to provide strong customer-focused experiences. You'll be using the latest front-end technologies (such as React and ES6) and practice disciplined software engineering - automated testing, code reviews and writing beautiful, readable code. You will also eventually move into designing the front end of their mobile digital wallet application with React Native and porting apps to iOS and Android. The mobile skills can be train, it is the strong frontend react skills that are key. You would be working in a vibrant yet relaxed tech-driven environment, where passion and enthusiasm for seeing the business succeed is absolutely paramount. Following the initial onboarding period, you will be given flexibility to work how best suits you and given the support you need to develop and grow with the business. Skills required Experience with React. Strong JavaScript & Redux experience. Any experience with Native / Mobile development is highly desirable. Any full stack experience would also be desirable. Any experience with the latest software delivery methodologies including Cloud (AWS), Agile and DevOps / Continuous Integration is desirable.
