Overview

About the role: This role sits within the Technical Excellence Department and supports front line operations, working across the lifecycle value-chain above ground water treatment assets. It will be part of the team of specialists that ensure the ‘asset: people: procedures’ model is optimal. In doing so, this technical services team will help support Water Production in achieving their three key challenges across the coming years; maintain water quality compliance, promote system resilience and drive cost efficiencies ensuring value-for-money for our customers. The team evaluates asset maintenance, condition and availability, and contributes in building towards a resilient totex operating model, that increasingly promotes optimal whole life costs. It also analyses and investigate site processes, proposing, scoping & delivering capital investment, to improve opex efficiencies, product quality compliance & level of service. Finally, there is the Continuous Improvement aspects of the function, and together with Operational Assurance Audit, it seeks to improve products, services, and processes over time. The team is seeking individuals that have experience in operating, evaluating & optimising water process assets (chemical, energy etc). This specific post sits within the Asset Health Optimisation team and looks to constructively challenge our historic ways of working for the better, in contributing to make a significant difference to the business going forward. Key Accountabilities: Compliance assurance, asset health condition assessments, risk assessments. Linking to investment analysis/requirement etc. Troubleshooting, process support/recovery and failure investigation (e.g. RCA, FMEA). Process Optimisation (Lean, Kaisen, EoW techniques) specifically around chemicals, energy and work activity (e.g. maintenance and inspections). Taking a systems overview to aid strategic planning across raw water sourcing, process release/outage, process remediation (e.g. Slow sand filters, ozone, etc). Adopt the technical subject matter expert (SME) mantle for key processes, contributing to asset standards and process working groups. Promote the continuous improvement mindset across teams (e.g. sharing best practice, event learning, corrective action management, audit outcomes). To be successful in this role you will need a track record in managing technical, or strategic teams and getting the best out of individuals every day. A background in process science or engineering within the sector (or comparable process sectors e.g. oil & gas, pharmaceutical, etc). A significant element will require working with internal stakeholders to adopt changes in processes therefore it is essential you have strong. To be successful you will have the following skills and experience: The successful candidate is likely to have a Degree (or equivalent) in a Scientific or Engineering discipline, they must also have significant experience in water treatment processes, supply and / or regulation. Specific knowledge about energy management/optimisation would be highly advantageous. Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are also key to this role as you will not only be liaising with your team but also with stakeholders with Thames Water on a day to day basis. You will be a driven individual, a self-starter, always seeking new ways of working and betterment. You will be able to take the initiative and not always need close supervision and guidance. You will work in a logical and analytical manner and be able to maintain a positive and professional approach when dealing with internal customers. Travel to other sites is required as a major part of this role thus a driving license is essential.
