Overview

We are currently looking to recruit a Data Ethics Manager at one of sites in London, Bristol, Calder, Leicester, Warrington or Birmingham. The Chief Data Office (CDO) is based within Digital Data & Technology (DDaT). We are responsible for managing the NCA corporate record and information holdings, whilst ensuring the NCA can confidently identify, discharge and comply with its legal information management responsibilities. We develop strategy and set standards in gathering, storing, processing, analysing and disseminating information. We manage information access requests from the public and third party disclosure requests from other prosecuting authorities in respect of on-going enquiries/operations. We are also responsible for co-ordinating the NCA response to major statutory and public inquiries. Job description Key Responsibilities As part of a team of information management professionals, you will be using your skills and expertise to: • Shape, develop and manage data ethics within the NCA • Shape our ethical framework for how data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning techniques used in the NCA for the present and future, working to ensure that data and AI-driven innovations deliver social benefit. • Develop a code of ethics for the NCA. This will require an understanding of policing and public safety codes of conduct and legal regulations • Continually develop and maintain the NCA ethical framework with academic rigor, ensuring that its principles evolve with new technologies. This will involve internal and external stakeholder engagement to develop a data ethics culture. • Support good information management compliance in the agency. You will interact successfully with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, presenting opinion in a clear and objective way to develop Data ethics and relevant policy and strategies across the agency. This is a crucial and influential role requiring excellent drafting, negotiating and analysis skills. You will need to demonstrate the below behaviours: • Leadership • Making Effective Decisions You will also need to demonstrate the below technical criteria: • Proven and up to date knowledge in trends for solving data problems • Experience or an interest in creating emerging perspectives on data concepts and emerging technology. • Experience of analysing information and data from a range of sources • The ability to analyse and research complex ideas and concepts You will also have the below qualifications or experience: Essential: • At least three years relevant experience in an information, data, data science or analysis role • Candidates will be required to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) clearance Desirable: • Understanding of data ethics challenges • Qualification in Information Security, analysis or data science Security Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check.
