Financial Accountant, public sector Your new company Public Sector East Northamptonshire Your new role Financial Accountant £50k plus benefits What you'll need to succeed Reporting to the Head of Finance and Treasury, the Financial Accountant will be involved with all financial accounting and treasury activities. They will be responsible for preparing the year end statutory accounts and audit process. The Financial Accountant is heavily involved in the day to day running of the company accounts, with the responsibility of making observations of the financial state of the organisation. Activities include the day-to-day monitoring and administration of bank accounts, posting journals and producing monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Responsibilities Responsibility for the preparation of the annual financial statements in line with the relevant regulatory and legislative directions and best practice Assist the Head of Finance and Treasury with the annual year end audit process for the organisation including liaison with the external auditors Prepare monthly reconciliations of other bank accounts and loan accounts on a monthly basis. Prepare month and year end journals in order to ensure correct reporting of interest and investments in the management and statutory accounts. Maintain the Loan covenant register for. Responsible for the daily and weekly cash flow forecasts for the organisation. Prepare the monthly VAT return for . Post all fixed asset journals, reconciling relevant balance sheet reconciliations for other general ledge accounts as required. Assist the Head of Finance and Treasury with the development and day to day management of the Open accounts financial system across the whole finance team in order to achieve efficiencies and continuous improvement. Assist the Head of Finance and Treasury to deliver a comprehensive financial control system that ensures the completeness, accuracy and integrity of the organisations financial systems, processes and procedures at a level appropriate to the financial risk. Prepare and maintain written finance procedures manuals detailing the controls and processes in place.
