Overview
DevOps Engineer (Docker / Jenkins) Salary: £35,000 to £55,000 Location: Central Sheffield (brief walk from train station) Let’s be honest, startups can be a bit wacky. The best ones will go from success to success without losing that mad streak, treating you not as an employee but as part of a real family. Plenty of successful companies have a culture based on their start-up roots, so what sets this place apart from the rest? They were set up by a local lad, but now have offices all over the world. Based only a short walk away from the train station, their office is a funky maze of geekiness in the heart of Sheffield. It really doesn’t have the vibe of a normal workplace; the people there treat it more like a home. The work isn’t too shabby either. You’ll be helping to develop completely unique, highly complex software and platform solutions that power some of the world’s best tech businesses. So, how do you fit into the picture? Well, they are growing, and need an Automation Engineer to join their DevOps team. If you’re automation skills are up to task, you’ll be rewarded with a competitive salary alongside an interesting benefits package. This includes an unlimited holiday allowance, flexible hours and some work from home. On an average day you’ll be helping to develop and maintain automated deployment and monitoring tools. Although experience in a cloud engineering role isn’t essential, any that you do have would be very useful. There’s no long list of requirements for the perfect candidate, but it’s important to be confident using Docker and Jenkins (or an equivalent) alongside a couple other automation tools. They’re Linux through and through, but you don’t need to be a sworn enemy of Windows. If you’re confident working on Linux based systems (perhaps from the perspective of a Sys Admin, using the command line etc.), you’ll fit right in. It doesn’t matter if your preferred flavor of cloud is AWS, Azure or GCP, they’re all equally as useful for what these guys are getting up to. It’s a fairly cloud agnostic environment, but experience with Hadoop would help you stand out from the crowd. Want to know more? Send over your CV.
