DATA OPERATIONS ARCHITECT/ 6 MONTH INITIAL CONTRACT WITH SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITES TO STAY LONGER TERM (LIVERPOOL, PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY): £30-40 PER HOUR. We are presently seeking a Data Operations Architect for an initial 6 month contract. Job Role/Purpose We’re looking for a passionate Data Operations Architect to help stand up and embed a new suite of Data, Analytics & Integration solutions for the entire company. The Data Operations Architect will sit in the TechOps team and be accountable for a number of key areas: Partnering closely with our DataOps team to run the implementation of many new platforms, whilst driving the long-term strategy. Helping roll out our Enterprise Backup and Restore solution to the business. Overseeing our Managed Service Provider to ensure our business-critical data, analytics & integration platforms are easy to consume, continue to function and keep our business running. Play a data architect role for the TechOps team, assisting with the design and implementation of new solutions. Examples of the scope include: Backup and restore, master & reference data stores, master & meta data management, data catalogue, data lake, data warehousing, analytics, reporting, visualisation, integrations & API management. The Data Operations Architect will work closely with the CTO and enterprise architecture community to embed the data, analytics and integration principles across the organisation. The role does not include people administration, however, will provide technical leadership and decision making for DevOps teams. Architecture Leadership Defining, embedding and maintaining the global data strategy for TechOps, including a clear roadmap and execution plan. Identifying and providing recommendations and business plans for data platforms, covering: data hosting, cloud platforms, integrations, API management, data stores and reporting. Working with the product owners for various data platform products to understand technical requirements; using these as requirements for TechOps service delivery and backlog enhancement items. Ensuring our platforms are easy to consume, allowing other teams to quickly adopt and add value in their respective areas. Partnering with the CTO and Enterprise Architecture Community, supporting the creation of architecture materials, such as a reference architecture, principles, positioning, patterns and statements. Identifying opportunities to optimize and modernize the data architecture, driving cost efficiencies. Identifying and positioning new data technologies that yield competitive advantage. Acting as a Subject Matter expert in data platforms across the TechOps platforms, providing consultancy and guidance to our internal customers to enable and improve adoption. Technical Leadership Providing technical leadership and decision making for DevOps teams. Ensuring the Business IT Functions are following TechOps & Enterprise Architecture principles. Serving on various forums to analyse projects and programs to ensure they are technically sound, will do no harm, and will deliver the expected outcomes. Establishing strong partnerships across the architecture community and Information Security, helping to identify opportunities and mitigate risks. Where required, deep diving key initiatives to help overcome major incidents, complex problems and/or realise opportunities. Helping to embed security, privacy, data protection and quality assurance across IT. External Engagement Actively building and staying abreast of emerging technology directions related to data architecture, guiding IT on how to interpret and best leverage the emerging technologies. Engaging in the community (internally and externally) across multiple channels, looking to share, educate and inspire. Experiences Extensive experience in technology project leadership, managing and advancing complex, global environments. Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions. Extensive experience managing Backup and Restore solutions. Experience across data platforms, integrations and tools, including Microsoft Azure, PowerBI, Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, Kafka, Dell Boomi, Denodo, SAS, and JMP. Experience working with public cloud architecture, specifically Microsoft Azure. Experience working with modern architecture methodologies (Service Orientated Architecture, API-Centric Design, Twelve-Factor App, FAIR, etc.) Experience defining and executing large-scale, transformative strategic plans. Demonstrated influence and communication skills across all levels of IT and third-parties. Demonstrated strength in facilitation skills. Strong organizational and communications skills with multiple examples of being able to convey complex ideas in a manner that resulted in a definitive direction and result.
