Overview

Our Client are seeking a senior level DevOps Engineer to join a well-funded start-up culture and really move their greenfield roadmap forward at pace. They are looking for top talent to join their newly formed Digital Technology team, based in their North London HQ (obviously working remotely until Government advice changes). They have recently moved away from a legacy infrastructure setup to the Google Cloud Platform, modern containers and true DevOps approach. They expect any applicants to have a strong background in using the technologies available on this platform as you will be tasked with leveraging Google Cloud's best services to ensure complete observability and reliability within their infrastructure. You will be responsible for improving container tooling, scaling the cloud environment and providing an AWS backup to the current GCP environment. They are looking for a DevOps Engineer to help improve how they manage and roll-out their GCP environments (ingress, security, authentication), and to guide their current software deployment process towards a CI/CD strategy. Of particular interest is improving their deployment time of releases, whilst maintaining or reducing infrastructure costs. Responsibilities: Working in a team building and managing GCP environments and projects to enable application deployments Engineer solutions on GCP foundation platform using Infrastructure as Code method namely Terraform and Terragrunt Integrate, configure, deploy and manage centrally provided common cloud services (e.g. IAM, networking, logging, Operating systems, Containers, Cloud Functions, Big Query Tables) Manage SDN in GCP Ensure compliance with Security and Operational risk standards (E.g. Network, Firewall, OS, Logging, Monitoring, Availability, Resiliency) Build and support continuous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD) and continuous testing activities Engineering activities to implement patches and updates Support non-functional testing. Update support and operational documentation as required Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry including MPP databases, NoSQL storage, Data Warehouse design, BI reporting and Dashboard development Designing and developing scalable, fault-tolerant self-service infrastructures that empower product teams to act quickly and independently without blocking each other Working closely with developers to help build pipelines for automated packaging, testing, and deployment of apps and services Implementing proactive monitoring and alerting to quickly identify failures and improve the Mean Time to Recovery Building & Supporting hosting platform Planning, design and documentation Supporting solutions in production Personal development (new technologies, performance management)
