Overview

REED Accountancy are working exclusively with a locally based Legal Firm, recruiting for a Legal Cashier to cover a 9 month Maternity Cover (April - January). Overall purpose: To provide financial support services to the business as part of the Accounts Department, working efficiently and proactively in protecting our clients’ funds and accurately posting all transactions within the SRA guidelines. Main Duties: Key responsibilities To support the operation of the firms accounting system. To check the firm’s electronic bank account and process all daily transactions including S/O’s, D/D’s, BACS, receipts etc To complete the daily bank reconciliations To check completion statements To process CHAPS payments To prepare and action foreign bank transfers To check and process client bills To carry out daily client to office transfers to assist cashflow To deal directly with clients personally for cash, cheque and card payments To manage petty cash procedures across all offices ensuring they balance To assist with clearing residual client balances To complete the daily banking and production of cheques To stop cheques at the bank and S/O’s and D/D’s To post online searches To cover for posting invoices and payment of supplier Personal To keep confidential all client information To be positive and helpful with colleagues, clients and professional contacts of the firm To assist other departments and colleagues within the firm as requested To adhere to and familiarise themselves with the firm’s terms and conditions Other Duties To appreciate the flexibility in the role is paramount To work on own initiative To attend and work at other offices if required To provide support for the marketing and promotional activities of the department and firm Person Specification: Essential: A min of 2 years experience in an accounts role, Highly numerate, Good IT Knowledge and skills, Good communication skills and Strong administrative skills. (Desirable) Experience of working within an accounts department of a legal practice, Good working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts rules.
