Overview

Due to the great success of Princess Yachts and their extensive growth over the past few years we are very proud to continue our working partnership with Princess Yachts to successfully recruit a Composites Engineer, supporting all aspects of composite part production, from research, develop and delivering new composite products and processes. This will include implementation of composite production and processing of materials and equipment, work instructions and processing records relating to manufacturing parts. The experienced Composites Engineer will ideally come from a Marine background (or similar) sector or boat builder with a proven track record of composite boat manufacture. A high level of practical experience within wet layup, resin infusion and RTM light. Duties will include but not limited to: · Support composite production areas to ensure all components can be delivered to the utmost quality on a repeatable basis in the agreed time. · Process development, delivery and monitoring for new composite manufacturing technology. · Draft and process updates to Composite Work Instructions and manufacturing process records in line with the company document management system. · Support delivery of training to all required areas of the business regarding the composite manufacturing processes utilised. · Technical liaison with the composite supply chain, clearly communicating business expectations. · Support the procurement team, technically assessing materials using a range of techniques from paper based study to large product trials. · Understand composite processing machinery and equipment, supporting development, delivery and through lifecycle management of new products into manufacturing areas. · Error proofing processes using engineering quality tools. · Assessments of new/modified processes to reduce takt time/improve quality to achieve business targets. · Support the Health and Safety team in provision of COSHH assessment and SSOW for composite material processing. · Consider operator safety and environmental impact of new composite materials during new product development activities. · Demonstrate best practice and SSOW and act as an ambassador of this to all business colleagues. · Liaise with business colleagues at all levels regarding composite material manufacturing and technology. · Support commercial teams regarding provision of technical information to customer’s representatives. · Mentor junior members of the composites group sharing knowledge and experience to aid their professional development. · To promote and enforce team Health and Safety Person Specification: · Experienced composite engineer in the marine (or similar) sector and/or boat builder with a proven track record of composite boat manufacture. · High level of experience and practical skills in Wet Layup, Resin Infusion and RTM Light. · Experience of using and specifying process equipment and tooling for the above manufacturing techniques. · Strong knowledge of composite material characteristics and the effect of these on processing technique and component performance. · Degree or HND/HNC educated in a relevant engineering discipline. · Good knowledge of the composites supply chain. · Good knowledge of composite defects, and experienced in determining root cause and resolution of these. · Experience of using process engineering tools such as DFMEA/PFMEA within composite part manufacture. · Pragmatic with a data driven approach. · Ability to work under pressure. · IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office software. · Experience using Teamcenter and NX would be beneficial but not essential.
