Overview
Warehouse Operatives (Fixed Term Contract) We are pleased to announce exciting opportunities for Warehouse Operatives on a temporary contract to join our successful team at the B&Q Distribution Centre, Worksop. The temporary contract will commence April 2020 for a period of 3 months, with the possibility of being extended and could lead to permanent employment. The roles will report to a First Line Manager and will require flexibility in approach to shift patterns to meet operational requirements. We offer a competitive hourly rate of £8.74 per hour for a 40-hour week, rising to £9.74 per hour if employed after 6 months. Night shift work attracts a premium of 25% so the starter rate would be £10.92 per hour, rising to £12.17 per hour if employed after 6 months. Overtime rates also apply, however overtime is not guaranteed. The Role To undertake the day to day functions within the warehouse ensuring all targets are met and the highest standards of quality, accuracy & hygiene are maintained to ensure all management and customer expectations are achieved; Ensure the operation meets all requirements by completing each function to the highest quality standards; To be responsible for the health and safety of self and your colleagues by ensuring all tasks are carried out to the relevant procedures and by adhering to safe working practices always; Ensure a high level of communication between colleagues and management is maintained and information flow is of the highest standard; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be worn where appropriate, at all times; Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses to a First Line Manager immediately; Ensure that a high level of housekeeping and hygiene is maintained in all areas always; Ensure all equipment checks are completed correctly and on time; Ensure that all damage to stock or equipment (including racking) is reported following set procedures; Ensure all tasks are completed within Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets. (i.e. Accuracy, productivity, quality); Any other reasonable request within the scope of the position. The Person Able to work rotating shift patterns from Sunday to Thursday (week 1 - 06:00 – 14:00, week 2 – 14:00 – 22:00); Night shift may also be available working 22:00 –06:00. Must be numerate, literate and be able to understand accuracy demands; Ability to undertake all training offered to become multi-skilled, this will include training on Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE); Have the ability to operate within a fast-moving warehouse environment; Motivated to work and on own initiative; A good communicator and able to develop good working relationships at all levels; Ability to work to the highest standards of Health and Safety Ensure attendance and timekeeping levels are maintained to fulfil contract of employment; Must have a positive and customer focused attitude with a keen and enthusiastic approach.
