Base Location: Shetland Salary: £44,000 - £67,000 depending on skills and experience car/cash allowance annual bonus Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time with flexible working patterns available About the Department Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain. What is the Role? As part of the Shetland HVDC Link project, SHE Transmission will be projecting and sustaining a large construction workforce (peaking at approximately 250 staff) on the Shetland Isles from 2020 to 2024. The logistics of this deployment of contractor and SSE staff, vehicles, material and equipment requires a dedicated manager to provide work in conjunction with our contracted providers of accommodation, welfare and transport. The Shetland Logistics Manager will work closely with the SHE Transmission project managers on Shetland to ensure the workforce is provided with the highest standard of logistical support whilst deployed to the islands. This role will be full-time based on Shetland with some flexibility required in the working week as our contractors will be working 7 days. Travel to SSE offices on the mainland may be required on an occasional basis. What do I need? The role will be the primary point of contact for SHE Transmission with the appointed contractors enabling the delivery of the HVDC link project and would suit a candidate with a strong background in facilities management or logistical management in the oil and gas or armed forces environments. To be considered for the position of the Shetland Logistics Manager you should have detailed knowledge of health and safety standards and legislation applicable to temporary workforce deployments and experience of deploying, sustaining and removing a large workforce to remote areas; administration of accommodation, catering, welfare and transport contracts. You will have the ability to build strong working relationships with local and national suppliers. Someone who is calm under pressure with the ability to deal with issues quickly and effectively whilst proactively planning as the works progress is essential. As an excellent communicator, you will have ability to engage with the deployed workforce and act on requests or complaints appropriately.
