The successful candidate will be joining a forward thinking organisation where sharing ideas and developing their people is how they have built their success. www.ithpharma.com The Role As a Purchasing Assistant you would work as part of a team reporting to the Purchasing Manager. You will be responsible for the planning, selecting and buying of various categories (goods and services) for the whole business, specifically, to assist in managing the entire portfolio of suppliers and to secure the best possible pricing by leverage, you will play an integral role in ensuring the company adheres to budgets and operates profitably. The Person – Skills and qualities required Applicants MUST have a minimum of 2 years purchasing experience within pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical or chemical fields and proven experience of strategic purchasing activities and supply chain. A degree (or equivalent) in a commercial or technical discipline or someone who is professionally qualified or working towards CIPS is desirable. A good understanding of the pharmaceutical product lifecycle from development through launch to steady supply chain and an understanding of GMP would be beneficial but is not essential as training will be provided. Strong negotiation and influencing skills are essential as you will be managing suppliers and also presenting complex information to them. Computer literate, experience with MRP/ERP and excellent numeracy skills are a must. The ideal candidate will be commercially astute. In addition you will need good oral/telephone and written communication skills in English, be methodical in approach, able to demonstrate close attention to detail and concentrate for long periods of time. An appreciation of customer needs and experience of working as part of a busy team to tight deadlines without losing focus are also essential.
