School Transport Planner

The Post Holder will lead School Transport team in the planning, procurement and management of the Home to School Transportation of eligible passengers for Education and Social Care in line with Corporate; Regional and National transport policies and legislation. Responsible for the supervision of the School transport section which has a budget which is to the value of £4.5m per annum to ensure the effective integration of passenger transport services with all other council transport services that will deliver best possible value for money for the council. The Post Holder will oversee and plan the workload and supervise two full time members of staff responsible for planning and operating passenger transport services, and oversee the management and HR requirements of 13O escorts used to accompany passengers identified as having Special or Physical Educational needs. The Post Holder is required to work in a demanding, fast moving and often challenging environment on a daily basis. Competing priorities require the post holder to have personal attributes which include tact, diplomacy, creativity and the ability to make accurate and decisive decisions under pressure in order to ensure service delivery is provided and as well as fulfil the wider demands of this role.
