Overview
Manufacturing Manager - Ipswich - £50k pa Based near Ipswich Suffolk, our client designs and manufactures a wide range of steel and stainless-steel storage tanks and vessels. They are currently developing their strategy for growth into the new decade and are seeking a Manufacturing Manager to take responsibility for manufacturing improvements and oversee the day to day working of a busy fabrication and paint operations employing around 40 people. Responsibilities will include: Manage the production areas to deliver product on time and on cost Instigate improvements in the manufacturing process including capital expenditure Address all areas of production efficiency and waste Minimizing the total cost of procurement Ensuring on time delivery via accurate planning and production management Provide production capacity information to the business Providing strategic guidance as part of the business executive team Ensuring legal requirements for health and safety are adhered to Experience of line management in a steel fabrication business would be preferred however the key skills are organization, planning and the ability to motivate your team. Some experience in production engineering such as plant layout or design engineering would also be advantageous. Key background will include - welding, steel, batch production, fabrication, H&S and Quality Control. You will be reporting directly to the Managing Director and play a significant part in the management team. Key Skills: Management of the production area directly and through a team of supervisors. A good understanding of fabrication techniques particularly large cylindrical vessels. Experienced in production and capacity planning skills. Able to work in a team relationship with other departments. Customer communication skills. Experience in production engineering an advantage. The person Most likely to have progressed either via an engineering apprenticeship or academic training with a minimum of 5 years production management experience. Familiar with steel fabrication techniques including CNC profiling and welding. Commands respect through ability and knowledge.
