Title: Female Support Worker Location: Finchampstead, RG40 Nearest Train Station: Wokingham Wage / Salary: £13.00 - £15.00 gross per hour depending on experience Driver required? Essential Use of a car? On duty, automatic Essential: Female, non-smoker; Working with children with physical disabilities and non-verbal communication, manual handling Preferable:Experience with Conductive Education, OT, Physio and SALT would be ideal Start Date: ASAP Days & Hours: Monday to Friday 6:30am to 9:30am, and 4:00pm to 9:00pm (some flexibility on hours) Family/Client Pets: no pets About this client/child: Farah, 12, is a vibrant, fun-loving young lady who enjoys swimming, using her Eye Gazeand listening to Islamic Nasheeds. Farah has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, is visually impaired, non-verbal and is fed and medicated via a PEG. Farah is capable of making her feelings known, however it is essential you are confident in engaging with a non-verbal child. She is dependent on others for all her daily needs, however this does not hold her back Farah has two sisters, aged 9 and 13, so as you can imagine, this is a very busy home Overview of role: This position will involve supporting Farah, and her mother, through the daily routine including personal care (bathing and toileting), preparing Farah’s blended diet, administering medication and feeds via PEG, keeping Farah’s areas tidy and engaging with her throughout your time together. Currently Farah’s family and team are exploring communications aids and techniques, therefore experience in this area would be an advantage. Not to forget her love for time out of her wheelchair and implementing her therapies into the daily routine in a creative, educational and playful way Who this job would suit: The ideal candidate(s) will be enthusiastic and energetic, fun, caring and organised with excellent communication skills and the ability to hit the ground running. You’ll be a team-player, working alongside mum and Farah’s team. The Support Worker would need to be respectful and understanding of the family’s beliefs. We would love to hear from candidates with experience in PT, OT, SALT or Conductive Education.
