Overview

The team has a number of projects going on at any time in the areas of Big Data, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing for Security, Central Government, Defence and Commercial customers, and includes software engineers, systems engineers and Human Science practitioners as well as Data Science specialists. The team has the goal of maintaining and developing a leading-edge Data Analytics capability to support innovative, solution focussed, projects. The Technical Lead role requires an individual who is able to operate at the big picture level rather than diving into the technical detail on each commission. They will be the key technical point of contact on a commission, instrumental in developing and determining the response, and will be charged with ensuring the technical work is delivered to the appropriate time, cost and quality. They will also be responsible for technical assurance on the commissions considering key activities such as security, safety and data protection. Experience working in a customer-facing role is required, as the role involves being the primary customer technical point of contact. Also required is the ability to technically lead bids and projects, communicate openly, think creatively, collaborate, and influence a range of stakeholders. Responsibilities Include: • Technically leading/assuring commissions through the Agile delivery model; • Technical assessment of specific companies and proposals coming from the consortium members; • Identifying commission delivery risks; • Work with consortium members and internal IT to ensure optimal delivery whilst continually ensuring high quality output is preserved; • Representing ACE at Government workshops, providing input into consultations. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: • Qualified to at least University Honours Degree or equivalent demonstrable experience; • Good track record of technical leadership; • Experienced and confident in operating in a big picture role; • Self-motivated and delivery focussed; • Comfortable working in a dynamic start-up environment with the ability to work within a rapidly evolving organisation; • Enthusiastic and willing to work flexibly to be part of a high-performing team; • Proven experience of working in a consultancy role, focused on customer needs and requirements or equivalent engineering role with customer/stakeholder exposure and influence; • Excellent verbal and written technical communications skills. Able to brief complex matters to an appropriate level based on audience; Experience working in a customer-facing role is required, as the role will be both customer and supplier facing. Also required is the ability to technically lead bids and projects, communicate openly, think creatively, collaborate, and influence a range of stakeholders. Desirable Experience of some or all of the following: • Experience in leading Agile or scaled Agile teams, or a member of this type of team; • Familiarity with a DevOps environment; • Experience across the full product development lifecycle from requirements to user testing; • Systems engineering experience particularly in design. implementation and integration activities; • Experience of AWS and/or Azure; • Exposure to Cloud technologies; • Experienced and knowledgeable in aspects of data science and data engineering; • Domain knowledge in any of the following: communications data, communications technologies, cyber, law enforcement, policing. An SC security clearance is the minimum requirement to start this role. If not held already, the holder will need to apply for a DV level of clearance, for which you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years, regardless of nationality.
