Overview
The Opportunity The Manufacturing Engineering organisation is responsible for the day-to-day support to the product assembly and testing of weapons and equipment within the manufacturing facility at Bolton. An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Administrator to join the Test Engineering team, providing day-to-day support to engineers carrying out test and diagnostics of weapon systems products. What are we looking for? ONC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, plus experience in generating technical specifications and procedures. An awareness of the typical manufacturing environment, including test processes and electronic manufacturing execution systems. Good understanding of configuration control (hardware, software & documentation). Strong attention to detail. MS Office – proficient in using Word, Excel and Powerpoint to generate technical material. Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Supportive, helpful approach and a calm professional manner, even when under pressure or requirements are changed at the last minute. An awareness of budgetary management would be useful. The Role Providing technical administration support to manufacturing test and programming of weapons and sub-systems in production and development, to ensure programme targets are met to agreed time, cost and quality requirements. Managing the Manufacturing Software Library at MBDA Bolton – configuration control of all product software, in co-ordination with Security department and the various projects. Accessing the company network to compile software builds then burning these to CD and issuing to Operations for use in production. Performing the annual muster (audit) of all classified product software media held on site at MBDA Bolton. Supporting the Manufacturing & Test Engineering teams by generating and updating technical documentation such as test specifications and PFMEA Reports. Accessing the company configuration system and providing copies of technical drawings and documents when requested to support engineers. Liaising with test engineers and the Calibration & Maintenance Team on the control and return of portable test instrumentation. Liaising with Manufacturing Engineering on MES (Manufacturing Execution System) issues. Performing periodic competency monitoring checks on Engineering certification stampholders. Raising and processing Purchase Requisitions to assist test engineers in the procurement of items to support test equipment. Providing regular reports on spend against departmental budget codes.
