Overview
Residential Support Workers needed for setting in Sheffield. Temp to perm job, starting asap. Your new company This is a residential setting in Sheffield supporting young people with a range of Special Educational Needs. Due to additional funding, the setting are looking to increase their numbers of Residential Support Workers. Your new role You will be part of a team of Residential Support Workers who support a number of children/young people with learning difficulties within a residential setting, this includes the supervision and arrangement of social and recreational leisure activities, such as walking, cinema, household outings, visiting friends and family. You will be expected to provide care, guidance and work towards targets in the young person's Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and to record and report progress made. You will have responsibility for promoting and ensuring the safety, care, well-being, learning and development of the children to enable their growth in confidence and social and engage with their education. You will be working on a shift basis working evenings, weekends, sleep ins and waking nights. Initially you will be working on a temporary basis for the first 12 weeks, with a formal interview after the first 6 weeks. What you'll need to succeed Ideally you will have a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent; and MAPA qualifications, however these aren't essential. Ideally, you will be an experienced support worker who has worked in a residential setting and worked with children and young people with challenging behaviour, and have excellent communication skills, as well as experience of report writing and record keeping. You will also be expected to attend training sessions as required. You may be required to provide personal care to some of our service users and as such it would be beneficial for you to have experience of this as well as medication handling experience. An adult and child DBS is needed but this can be put in place through Hays. What you'll get in return A long-term job with the potential to become permanent in 12 weeks time.
