Overview

This broker is one of the most revered names in the Yorkshire insurance community; a Chartered firm that places tens of millions of pounds in premiums annually and whose client list comprises some of the region’s most prestigious accounts. Here, one of the Directors is stepping away from a client-facing role to focus on a more operational position. As such, the need has arisen for an experienced Account Executive to assume control of an established portfolio generating circa £350K in commission and fee income. Clients are from a wide range of industry sectors, including Leisure / Hospitality, Property Owners and Manufacturing, and many of the accounts generate fees of between £10K-£20K. You will take charge of the relationships with your portfolio, building a deep understanding of each individual client, and professional rapport with their key personnel. With the support of several technically-gifted Account Handlers / Brokers, you will ensure that insurance programmes suitably mitigate your clients’ exposures to risk. As with the incumbent Account Exec’ / Director, it is envisioned that you will become your clients’ 'trusted advisor’ and seen almost as extension to their management teams. Whilst it is not essential that you have previously managed such a large portfolio, or one that comprises £20K income risks, it is a prerequisite that you are an experienced Account Executive and have dealt with £5K brokerage business. Given the size of this portfolio, the focus here is very much on the management of existing business (as opposed to sales / development work). As such, you must be a 'safe pair of hands’ who can demonstrate very high levels of client retention in previous roles. You should be confident in dealing with clients from all industry sectors and au fait with the full range of commercial covers. Ideally you will be ACII qualified, although we do welcome applications from those Account Executives who have chosen not to pursue professional qualifications.
