Overview

Role Summary Working alongside a team of electronic, mechanical, software and automation engineers, you will be responsible for conducting theoretical and experimental research on the aerodynamic behaviour of the a range of highly technically advanced wind sensor products and research for the next generation of products. Your role will be to develop CFD analyses in order to better understand and enhance the operation of the wind sensor products. 40 hours per week Main Tasks & Responsibilities Conduct research by means of CFD analyses, modelling and experiment Create CFD models and apply aerodynamic principles in the design and optimisation of the product performance, for example its accuracy and wind speed range Develop aerodynamic concepts, characterise key components and assess whether the requirements are met Perform strength, fatigue, noise, vibration and turbulence analysis by means of CFD models and wind tunnel experiments Validate concepts and CFD models using the results of experimental data and feedback loop to theoretical predictions Person Specification Essential PhD in Aerodynamics or Aeronautics specialised in Computational Fluid Dynamics At least five years practical post graduate experience in academia or the aerospace industry, with fresh experience in CFD modelling Highly competent in commercial and open-source CFD modelling packages (especially openfoam) Experience in working from theoretical principles to develop computer models Publisher on high-quality peer-reviewed journals and international conferences Ability to demonstrate a creative approach to analytical and problem-solving challenges Collaborative approach and proven flexibility to work as part of a cross functional team Comfortable working to time constraints to meet agreed deadlines Desirable Specialised in subsonic and transonic flow, transitional and separated flow Experienced in transitional turbulence models Solid experience of using OpenFOAM Experience using Python or equivalent to derive clear conclusions from large database This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89687728
