Overview

Working for a leading research & innovation focussed consultancy, our client now urgently seeks to recruit a talented Software Developer with specific experience of Java 8 (or later), Spring / Spring Boot and Microservices architecture to join their growing software engineering team. Working in an Agile teams here you will be involved in the design and development and integration of new cloud based platform software for the utilities market. This will also involve testing 3rd party software and the update & maintenance of existing production software. Core tasks here will include but not be limited to; Developing backend Microservices Design and development of suitable test suites for the software. Documentation in line with software development processes. Providing support for the development of front-end software where necessary. Investigating and resolving any flaws / issues in the software Providing support for cloud platform deployments when required Ideal candidates will have at least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar backend focussed role, a positive "can do" attitude and experience in at least most of the following; A Bachelors level in degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar. Proven experience of Java 8 or later, preferably coupled with demonstrable experience of the Spring Framework (including Spring Boot) and Maven as a build tool. Experience of using version control software, ideally Git and GitLab, Experience of CI/CD software e.g. GitLab, Travis CI, Jenkins, etc. Proven experience of working in Agile/Scrum development teams. Experience of applying software design principles, such as TDD, design patterns, coding standards, etc. Experience of working with a large/enterprise-grade platform powered by a micro-services architecture. Some experience or knowledge of one of the following languages and frameworks: Node.JS, Python, Angular.JS, Vue.JS, React.JS would be an advantage but is not essential Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS and Kafka would be an advantage but is not essential Boasting a fast paced, collaborative team environment that encourages an entrepreneurial mind-set and innovation, and a start-up like culture that rewards results our client is offering a salary of up to £40,000 up to 10% Bonus Healthcare up to 10% Pension.
