We have an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Scheduler to join our Operating Theatres department, based at The London Clinic main hospital in Central London, W1G 6BW (close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations). Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest independently owned non-profit hospitals, with state-of-the-art facilities located on Harley Street. Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 234 patient beds and 10 operating theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive and day surgery theatres. Specialist areas include, General surgery; Gynaecology; Neuro-spinal; Ophthalmic; Orthopaedic; Plastics, Urology, Robotics & much more. Job Description The Theatre Scheduler reports into the Senior Theatre Manager, and is responsible for the day to day management of the Theatre schedules, including reviewing theatre lists for accuracy, and updating Meditech as required across all Operating Theatres at The London Clinic. Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week (Mon to Fri). Shift Cover is 8am to 4pm or 10am to 6pm. Salary: £25,000 - £30,000, depending on skills & experience. Duties & Responsibilities Operational responsibility for the administration of the theatre schedules and updating Meditech, Outlook, SharePoint and Allocations including daily monitoring and review of theatre lists, including resequencing. Work collaboratively with clinical staff, bookings team, consultants and their secretaries in managing and reviewing theatre sessions and lists to ensure we have a fit for purpose schedule to maximise utilisation. Liaising with the theatres clinical team for equipment requirements and requests from consultants, as well as ensuring lists are not over booked, and unused sessions are advertised to surgeons and their secretaries. Act as the first line of contact for consultants and their secretaries whilst working with the theatre senior management team to allocate permanent sessions as well as ad-hoc sessions. Collate and analyse all cancellations related to theatre issues as well as support theatres in their weekly list planning meetings. Skills & Experience Scheduling/Clerical/Administrative experience within a hospital environment. Knowledge of administrative medical terminology with experience in using the Meditech system. Experience in working with hospital policies and procedures, and collaboratively with healthcare staff. Knowledge of Databases, MS, Word and Excel. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with excellent attention to detail in order to use questioning and analytical ability. Self-motivated individual who is able to work on own initiative and can produce work of a high standard to tight deadlines and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with all professional disciplines.
